Profile
Constanza Ontiveros is a bilingual art historian and cultural project leader with more than 15 years of international experience. She develops collaborative cultural projects, builds alliances with local and international art organizations, and works to expand access to art among diverse audiences. Her work brings together research, curatorial practice, education and community engagement, with a particular interest in the transformative potential of the arts and their capacity to foster well-being.
She provides independent consultancy and curatorial services to artists, galleries and cultural organizations seeking to develop new projects, expand their horizons or reshape their focus. Her experience includes research, exhibition development, project proposals and the creation of partnerships across the cultural sector.
In 2025, Constanza created and launched the first-ever city-wide edition of Slow Art Day in Mexico City, bringing together more than 35 participating venues. She expanded the initiative in 2026 to include more than 50 organizations. During Slow Art Day, museums, galleries, and cultural spaces across the city organize activities that invite people to slow down, look closely, and experience art more meaningfully through observation, reflection, and conversation. Founded by Phyl Terry in 2010, Slow Art Day is a global nonprofit initiative that encourages people worldwide to discover the value of looking at art slowly.
Her experience includes work in curatorial, research and education departments at museums and art organizations in Mexico and the United States, including Museo Jumex and the Museo Nacional de Arte in Mexico City, the Biennial of the Americas in Denver, Colorado, and the Museum of Contemporary Art Santa Barbara in California.
Constanza Ontiveros es historiadora del arte bilingüe y gestora de proyectos culturales con más de 15 años de experiencia internacional. Desarrolla proyectos colaborativos, crea alianzas con organizaciones artísticas locales e internacionales y trabaja para acercar el arte a públicos diversos. Su trabajo reúne investigación, curaduría, educación y vinculación comunitaria, con especial interés en el potencial transformador de las artes y su capacidad para fomentar el bienestar.
Ofrece servicios independientes de consultoría y curaduría a artistas, galerías y organizaciones culturales que buscan desarrollar nuevos proyectos, ampliar sus horizontes o replantear su enfoque. Su experiencia abarca la investigación, el desarrollo de exposiciones, la elaboración de propuestas y la creación de alianzas dentro del sector cultural.
En 2025, Constanza creó y puso en marcha la primera edición de Slow Art Day a escala de toda la Ciudad de México, reuniendo a más de 35 sedes participantes. En 2026, amplió la iniciativa a más de 50 organizaciones. Durante Slow Art Day, museos, galerías y espacios culturales de toda la ciudad organizan actividades que invitan a las personas a bajar el ritmo, mirar con atención y vivir el arte de manera más significativa a través de la observación, la reflexión y la conversación. Fundada por Phyl Terry en 2010, Slow Art Day es una iniciativa global sin fines de lucro que invita a personas de todo el mundo a descubrir el valor de mirar el arte con calma.
Su trayectoria incluye trabajo en las áreas de curaduría, investigación y educación de museos y organizaciones artísticas en México y Estados Unidos, entre ellos el Museo Jumex y el Museo Nacional de Arte, en la Ciudad de México; la Biennial of the Americas, en Denver, Colorado; y el Museum of Contemporary Art Santa Barbara, en California.

In 2025, Constanza created and led the first-ever city-wide edition of Slow Art Day in Mexico City, followed by its second edition in 2026. Slow Art Day is a global nonprofit initiative founded by Phyl Terry in 2010.
